Conversation Map: What to Ask When Shopping for a Therapist.

Going to therapy takes guts. Once you're ready to get help, shopping for a therapist is necessary. Much like any other relationship, you and your therapist have to click and that may require reaching out to a few of them before you select the right one.

Unfortunately, the choice to see a counselor is often met with much ambivalence, and once one finally musters up the courage to start searching for a therapist, I can’t begin to tell you how many people are met with more confusion, hesitation, and even frustration with the shopping process.

So how can you make the transition into therapy as easy and efficient as possible? How can you find that right connection with the person that can unlock clarity, growth, and peace in your life?

Check out my Conversation Map for step by step questions when chatting with different therapists:

Some of the answers to these questions can be found online. In the case that your therapist does not have an online presence, be sure to take advantage of their free, 15 minute phone consultations and get your questions answered via telephone.

Good luck!
